This oak leaf image is taken from a motif found at the front entrance of the Library, and has been adopted by the Friends of the Library as the organization's trademark symbol and emblem of the Library.
"During the Victorian age, the oak leaf was a symbol of hospitality, stability, strength, honor, eternity, endurance, and liberty--qualities the Merriam-Gilbert Public Library continues to align itself with, in its effort to provide the best library service possible."
